A shrine where trains run through the grounds

(Shiranuka Itsukushima Shrine)

Along National Route 44. Itsukushima Shrine is located opposite Shiranuka Fishing Port. There are tracks on the grounds, and trains run through them. It is a rare spot, with only two or three in the whole country. It is a popular spot for train enthusiasts. By the way, one or two trains pass through every hour.

Another highlight of Shiranuka Itsukushima Shrine is the "Annual Festival" held in the summer (July). On the final day of the festival, after the Soran Bushi song is sung with vigor, the shrine enters the sea with the mikoshi. The mikoshi in the sea is a spectacular sight. It is a sight you should definitely see at least once.
