See the No. 1 landing scene in Japan from above!

(Kushiro Fisheries Center)

Did you know that Kushiro is the No. 1 major fishing port in Japan for landing volume (2012)?

At the Kushiro Fisheries Center, you can see the landing up close. And from above.

Kushiro has a lot of fishery products landed all year round, including salmon, Alaska pollock, Pacific cod, Shishamo, kelp, Pacific saury, sardines, mackerel, and smelt. Of the total landing volume of about 170,000 tons, sardines account for 140,000 tons, and during the summer (June to September), you can see the loading of sardines from boats onto trucks from the observation room of the center.

In addition, the facility also houses the Kushiro City Fisheries Materials Exhibition Room (Marine Topos Kushiro), which displays exhibits that explain the history of Kushiro's fishing industry, industrial equipment, and educational panels for children (free admission).
The first floor is a restaurant (Senchan Shokudo), which is open from early in the morning (7:00-15:00). You can eat the specialty seafood bowl and other fish set meals, and you can also purchase seafood.
